Title 1
GMES Title I Services
The purpose of Title I-Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) (signed into law on December 10, 2015, replacing No Child Left Behind) is to “provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps”. Title I provides technical assistance, service and support to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools to help ensure every child has access to an excellent education.
Title I and GMES: At Myer School, we have three (3) Title I Assistants who provide one-to-one, small group, and whole-group-push in support for our students who are demonstrating they are "At Risk" academically in Reading and Math.
Assessment Qualification: The metric we use for qualification for Title I assistance is the District-adopted Galileo assessment. Additionally, we use DIBELS Reading Assessment data and teacher observation/input to determine students' needs and focus of additional support and assistance.
