Principal's Corner

General Myer Parents and Families, 

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! We are excited for your child to be part of our amazing school community. We hope you have enjoyed your summer and are looking forward to the new school year. This year promises to be a year full of achievement, productivity, and growth for our new and returning students. Together, we will create a year of excellence for our students as we focus on student engagement, maintaining a positive school culture, and rigorous instruction through standards aligned lesson activities. 

Last year, we were fortunate enough to earn the 2022 National Blue Ribbon award for academic excellence. We celebrated with a flag-raising ceremony for the Fort Huachuca community and provided our students and families with a carnival. This tremendous award proved the dedication of our teachers and staff to providing the best education possible for our students. 

This year, we will continue to offer a STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics) class that will engage students in their continued interest in science. This class will be provided to students during the 1st and 3rd quarters. Music will be provided as a specials class again this year. Music will take place during the 2nd and 4th quarters. We plan to hold numerous family nights to learn more about the curriculum and learning activities that will be provided to our students. Students will also be provided Library, P. E., and Art during all 4 quarters. 

We will continue to move forward with our positive behavior implementation system of the General Myer 4 Bs. We expect every student to Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. We will be holding a beginning-of-school expectations assembly for every grade level so students understand the high academic and behavioral expectations we have.

Our school mission is: Working together with our families and military community, we are dedicated to inspiring a love of learning where students grow to reach their fullest potential. We support our district’s Core Values. 

Please feel free to contact us with any questions regarding volunteering opportunities. Please look out for our monthly newsletter, ‘The Eagle’s Nest’. This newsletter will provide you with lots of information regarding events that will be taking place. Please familiarize yourself with our handbook. 

We look forward to working with each and every one of you this year. We invite and encourage you to partner with us and become active participants in your child’s education because your support is so important to their success!
